Instead of having ur events so formal why not give it a relaxed feel by making it look like a lounge. I think that it would make the guests feel more relaxed and comfortable as well. You can play with the furniture more, decor and lights as well. I would definitely pic the lounge theme over the regular table and chairs but it depends on the space I have, the bigger the space the better.
